Gateway CEO was hosted by Phillip Brunner and the Chick-fil-A Edwardsville team last week. Not only was so much information shared about the roots of this business and their principles that still stand today, students were also treated to a great breakfast. From Chick-n-Minis, to biscuits, hashbrowns and coffee, we were so thankful for the hospitality. Highlights from the morning -
-Truett Cathy was an entrepreneur that started his first business at 8 years old. After building their first diner and then a pivotal moment that added chicken to the business, Chick-fil-a is now a $22B business with over three thousand stores.
-Truett Cathy always believed in building his business on biblical principles. This foundation is still passed to Owner Operators today and part of the way the teams are run in each location.
-Phillip Bruner transitioned to Owner/Operator after completing a music/business major and spending 23 years as a Worship Pastor. Today, he has the opportunity to be on mission and build relationship within our local community - and happens to sell really good Chicken sandwiches as well.
-The store is on mission to 'Do Good Together' and always driving to be the best. They believe in giving well.
-Advice for students as they take next steps in life. Figure out Master - Who is your Master? Mate - Find your mate. Mission - Find your mission. Go after life in this order and its a recipe for success.
The students were overwhelmed with the generosity and the insights to leading a team, stewarding what has been given and being a positive impact no matter what. Thank you Phillip Brunner!
