Even when it snows, hospital staff has to show up. This week, students got a small taste of this with trekking to Anderson Hospital for a fantastic site visit. Special thanks to Jessica Duft, Director of Education and Health Management for organizing a morning that allowed students to see so many aspects of healthcare - going beyond the scope of nurses and doctors in a hospital. We were fortunate to hear from leaders within Anderson. Here are a few nuggets from the line up of leaders.
- Lisa Spencer-MSN, RN, President - While never dreaming of being President of a hospital as a young adult, she always pursued growth and said yes to each opportunity that came here way! Today, she can see how each position in her career led her to being effective in understanding both the responsibilities as a care provider and being a partner in the community for healthcare.
- Michelle Ward-Chief of Quality and Risk - Moving from entry level in Coding and Billing to analyzing data and risk as Anderson grows, she helps support the hospital with using data points to ensure quality of care.
- Mike Ward - Chief of Information Technology - This field continues to grow and help efficiency in every aspect of serving patients. AI is a huge tool that can be utilized in streamlining overall experience.
- Natalie Head - Public Relations Director - This position is the voice and face in any corporation. With 30 years of service, her early days in not-for-profit really gave her foundation and encourages this for anyone considering public relations. She enjoys sharing all services and educating the customer base on what Anderson offers.
- Kara Reller - Human Resources Manager - While her undergraduate is Psychology, her leadership role is human resources. This background has helped with many aspects of finding resolve within many employee/employer situations.
- Jessica Duft, MSN, RN, CEP-ACSM, Director of Education and Health Management - While Jessica began in Nursing, she realized the love she had for the education piece with disease prevention and wellness. She also really enjoys the onboarding process with all new hires as they begin their journey with Anderson.

This was an eye-opening visit for students that may have many interests for their career path, yet understanding the positions that could be available in their backyard with a larger employer within our region. Thank you Anderson Hospital for an amazing morning of learning.
