A very special thank you to Ashleigh Deatherage, VP and Chief of Staff at Scott Credit Union for hosting Gateway CEO this week. The experience these students get in each site visit helps them understand more and more the dynamics between business and community. As a legacy business in the Metro East, Scott Credit Union was started in 1943 and continues to serve as a regional credit union with over 24 locations within Illinois and Missouri. Ashleigh focused on growth and development as she shared with students. Highlights include:
-Scott Credit Union - has had exponential growth since 2005.
-Only 4th CEO in history of organization with a volunteer board, and some that have served 50-60 years tenure.
-Headquarters built in 2012 - environmental focus with most items locally sourced, sensor lighting and geo thermal systems.
-Ashleigh started as a teller back in 2005, progressing from teller to marketing, to her current position.
-Focus on helping people and help grow employees within
-Communication is key, especially when understanding board, senior leadership and staff requirements.
-Put your employees first when making decisions.
-Always be sure your employers values align with your personal values and mission.
-Always seek to learn and grow - never becoming complacent.
Thank you so much for the beautiful time in the conference room and the tour of your headquarters!
